Promoting positive diversity in public life - 1st

Diversities, especially minority rights, have been promoted steadily over the past two decades, and have become a pillar of human rights and valid democratic practices, starting with two important areas: linguistic and educational rights, and adding another area, political participation, showing that the preventive rights against discrimination of minorities cannot be guaranteed without the minorities, themselves, actively participating in the political process. In northeastern Syria, there is a form of positive diversity management such as the exercise of all components of their linguistic rights and there is a representation of minorities in government. However, the criteria for minority participation remain largely unspecified, ambiguous, and politically polarized. Minorities, particularly women and IDPs, face societal pressures, government marginalization, and exclusion, as some IDPs describe. There are also many restrictions that limit their access to services and prevent them from participating in economic activities.
